Employment Discrimination

Discrimination in the workplace is illegal.  Discrimination may occur when employers hire, do not hire, promote, or terminate employees based on bias.  The law gives protection against discrimination due to a person’s race, gender, national origin, religion, disability, or age, or if there is retaliation against a person for opposing such practices.

Federal and state agencies such as the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) or the equivalent state entity, the Pennsylvania Human Relations Commission (PHRC) investigate claims of discrimination.

There are many laws that address employment discrimination and wrongful termination, including Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), the Age Discrimination in Employment Act (ADEA), and numerous state laws.

Proving discrimination and wrongful termination is a delicate task. Your lawyer should be familiar with the intricacies of the law, the statutes of limitation, the physical and emotional effects of litigation on his/her clients, the interaction of various laws, and the rules of procedure.

Ed Feinstein and Deborah Marcuse lead our employment team.  Contact us if you believe you have been discriminated against, have been wrongfully terminated, or are being retaliated against.
